- 0.25 percent rate applied on a rough industrial diamond.
- 5 percent rate applied on packaged food items and footwear under Rs. 500; and apparel below Rs. 1000.
- 12 percent tax rate applied to apparel over Rs. 1000, sugar, cutlery, frozen meats, etc.
- 18 percent tax rate applied to luxury items like cosmetics, swimming pool, footwear costing more than Rs. 500, etc.
- 28 percent taxing goods rate applies to cars, motorcycles, ceramic tiles, Indian cigarettes, etc.
Who need to register for GST?
Every business takes the GST number. But it is compulsory or mandatory for some businesses. Like that business whose business annual turnover is more than Rs. 20,00,000 or 20 lakh (exceeding Rs. 10 lakh for NE and Hill stations). It is also mandatory for any e-commerce business
Documents required for GST registration
- PAN card of the business or assigning authority. Before applying for GST registration, PAN must be used for the legal entity.
- Address proof of the assigning authority like aadhar card, driving license, voter card, passport copy or any other identity proof document
- Proof of business registration documents like incorporation certificate. It is not mandatory for proprietorship.
- Address proof of the business like electricity bill, property tax receipt, Municipal Khata etc.
- Bank account proof, it means scanned copy of passbook first page.
- Class 2 digital signature of the business owner is also required.
