Is TECHNOLOGY giving or taking life away?
It’s probably impossible to live any kind of life without technology today. Technology is an absolute need we cannot escape from. Let’s just say, it has a very big role in every aspect of our life. Technology is all around us.
Technology is supposed to make us feel more connected by allowing us to stay in touch with our friends by using social media sites such as; Facebook or Twitter and of course, texting. But are our smartphones getting in the way of socializing??? While everything is almost possible just at the touch of your screen, it is also true that life is slowly slipping away from our hands.
The Million Dollar question today is – does technology make us feel more alone?
Yes, it’s true and a proven fact – technology is nearly irresistible to human race the same way language is. And it does satisfy our wants and needs but we can live a fulfilling, if often shorter, life without modern conveniences. Try imagining your life without technology. Without the alarm clocks, refrigerators, computers, the telephones and so on. It would be very different from what we are accustomed to in our life today.
People are slowly, but surely accepting the idea that the human mind has been designed to be in contact with the world that surrounds it. The biggest argument in favor of social media activity is its ability to take lonely and shy people out of their cocoons.
When the casual usage of this technology turns into addiction, people cannot connect with their close ones and themselves. As a result, they become more alone than ever. In the past, people willingly isolated themselves from the community with the aim to contemplate and grow.
Today, we isolate ourselves because of empty vanity, self-love, convenience and imaginary benefits of online socialization. It is difficult for people to remain willingly independent from the inert state labeled as ‘COOL’.
Solitude is different from loneliness
In this constructive state of being, we have ourselves and that’s the only company we need. Solitude is positive. We can use this time for self-reflection and research, which will lead to personal growth and good decisions. Technology takes people away from this state.
To the world, solitude is the ability to be content being alone. For some people who involves travelling alone, going to see a movie, going shopping, or doing anything that gives you time Alone. For most others, being alone is a scary thing for various reasons such as being viewed as a “loner” or perhaps when alone your mind wanders off and thinks too much about things causing further issues. Solitude – can mean many different things to many people but essentially it is the sense of being alone. Sometimes individuals need that time to be alone; they need a time where technology can be eliminated and a person can rid themselves of all connections to the world and learn how to just relax.
Technology isn’t just helpful, it’s becoming an unmatched part of how we find balance and efficiency in our daily lives. Just remember to use them effectively instead of relying on them to begin making choices for you… Learn to strike that BALANCE.
YOU – still have to be in control of your OWN LIFE !

I believe we all need some alone time on the beach or a getaway without technology. Abstaining causes us to “recharge” our mind and body.
